Sources and method
CityVoice brings a city's agenda together on one page from several ticket sellers and public event calendars. This page explains where that data comes from and how we handle it.
Our sources
Events come from three providers: OpenAgenda (public and institutional cultural calendars), the Ticketmaster Discovery API (ticketing) and SeatGeek. Every listing shows its source. We never invent a date, a price or an address — that information is taken as the provider publishes it.
Aggregation and deduplication
The same event can appear across several providers. We attach it to a single listing by comparing the venue, the normalised title and the start time. Timed-entry sessions (exhibitions, tours) are collapsed to one occurrence per day. Copies are not deleted: they are flagged as duplicates and linked to the canonical listing.
Matching to a city and a venue
Each event is attached to the city closest to its real venue, using its coordinates and our geographic reference data. Venues (halls, theatres, arenas) are recognised by their provider ID and, failing that, by name and position — which lets us rebuild a venue's full schedule across every ticket seller.
Freshness
Each city's inventory is re-synchronised automatically about every three hours, without waiting for a visitor to open the page. A finished event leaves the list; a stale listing drops out of the index.
What we check — and what we do not
We check technical consistency: valid URL, future date, geolocated venue, no duplicate. We do not manually validate every event: editorial responsibility for the date, price and access conditions stays with the organiser and the original ticket seller. Always check the official link before travelling or booking.
Reporting an error
A listing is wrong, out of date or duplicated? Email hello@cityvoice.world with the page URL. We fix or remove the listing, and escalate to the provider if needed.
Local Voices
Alongside events, residents post “Voices” — local, pseudonymous messages. They are scanned automatically on publication and can be reported by the community; past a reporting threshold, a Voice is removed from the index pending human review. See the About page for moderation details.
